Picked at optimal flavour ripeness before being
destemmed into a static fermenter. Fermented for
around 9 days before being pressed off and racked
to barrel. Matured in selected French puncheons
for 14 months prior to bottling.

The Hunter 2014 vintage started the season with
good rains. Budburst in late August. Very good
growing season with warm mild weather. Whites
ripened very early and harvest started on January
8th. Ripening proceeded smoothly with no rain and
no excessive heat. All whites were picked in good
condition with very good flavour and balance.
Reds were even better. Shiraz from this year was the
best for many years and has produced outstanding
wines with great depth and balance. Excellent
vintage.

Our Limited Release ‘Tallavera’ Shiraz comes from
its namesake vineyard in the Mount View area of
the lower Hunter Valley. The Mount View area
contains 3 small protected subvalleys with highly
favourable soils influenced by the large proportion
of limestones in the underlying rocks. Terra Rossa
clays over crumbly limestone and free draining red
and brown clay loams cover hill slopes and are
planted to red varieties.

2017 AUSTRALIAN WINE COMPANION - 96

From the red volcanic soil over crumbly limestone
of Mt View. Black cherry and mulberry aromas are
joined by distinct earthy, spicy characters on the long,
energetic palate and lingering aftertaste, with cedary oak
and tannins the subtle drum beat. Drink to 2039.
